This is precisely why male/female relationships are so complex; our distinctive primal natures conflict in such a way as to prevent platonic relationships from forming… if such a platonic relationship WAS possible, then the future of humanity would be at risk. While it might be easy to attempt to blame one sex over another for their apparent insanity, it would be much more productive to accept the inherit differences in the male and female psyche to ones advantage in order to avoid further complications.
